Raffles Resort Canouan Island is located on Canouan Island in the heart of The Grenadines, just 177 kilometres west of Barbados in the south-eastern Caribbean Sea. Less then 2000 residents live on this tiny 13km² island, known for its lush green hills and secluded white sand beaches. Canouan Island is sheltered by one of the world's largest coral reefs. The resort stretches amphitheatre style around a protected bay with two nice beaches, assuring that each of the 156 single- and double-storey luxury villas offers stunning views over the surroundings. A special feature of the resort is a 17th century church shipped from England and reconstructed in the 19th century, a perfect location for weddings or vow renewal ceremonies. In the gardens of the resort grow both native and imported tropical flowers, plants and trees from around the world.

Rooms/Accommodation
Space for recreation is not limited at the Raffles Resort Canouan Island. Each of the Ocean or Garden View Rooms has a size of at least 52m² and a private patio or terrace with views overlooking the beach and ocean. The Suites have between one and four bedrooms and feature a spacious living room, large walk-in closet, guest bathroom and a fully equipped kitchenette. A private swimming pool is part of some of the Personality Suites.


The interiors are lovely decorated with wood furniture and terracotta-tiled floors. The bathrooms feature separate shower and soaking tubs and hand painted porcelain sinks and tiles. All accommodation offer air-conditioning, ceiling fan, bathrobes and beach slippers, a well equipped refreshment bar, safe, satellite TV, CD-player, wireless internet connection and separate outside entrances. Additionally, all Orchestra Suites feature flat screen televisions in the living room. A private golf cart is provided to guests during their stay.

Culinary delights can be experienced in one of the various restaurants. La Varenne Restaurant serves exclusive European cuisine accompanied by an excellent Champagne and wine list. La Piazza Restaurant is located at the centre of the resort with panoramic views of the bay and offers authentic Italian cuisine and a large selection of Italian wines. Breakfast is served at the Jambu's poolside restaurant. Caribbean cocktails and a relaxed menu can be enjoyed at a swim-up bar throughout the day. The Godahl's Beach Bar & Grill Restaurant offers delicious Caribbean and Latin flavoured salads and sandwiches, fresh catch of the day and barbequed dishes. At the AmritaSpa healthful meals and beverages are created to recharge the body, mind and soul.


The Villa Monte Carlo, a grand villa styled after a Mediterranean palace, is located on the top of Breezy Point. The terrace of the villa offers captivating views of the sea, the surrounding islands and the resort below, an ideal location for an evening cocktail party or wedding reception. Gala dinners can be served in the elegant Monte Carlo Ballroom. In the night the villa offers International gaming at The Trump Club Privée with roulette, card games and slot machines.

Activities
Included in the room rates are activities such as windsurfing, aqua cycling, kayaking, snorkelling equipment as well as the use of four floodlit tennis courts, use of the fully equipped AmritaFitness Center and a unique boxing ring. The resort also features one of the Caribbean's largest freshwater pools.

Canouan Island is surrounded by the crystal clear Caribbean Sea and a natural coral reef, providing some of the best scuba diving in the Grenadines. Individually guided, group and even night dives for divers of all levels of experience can be arranged at the Canouan Dive Center. The PADI centre offers a very flexible schedule which can be tailored to suit guests requirements. Boats take guests to dive spots as far as Mustique and Union Island.

Other activities that can be arranged include island-jeep tours, deep-sea fishing, snorkelling trip to the National Marine Park Tobago Cays, private boat trips to deserted islands with a Champagne picnic and even a luxury sailing excursion aboard a fully staffed, private yacht.

RafflesAmrita Spa

Raffles' customised spa brand, RafflesAmrita, is the largest in Asia and brings its Eastern treatment methods to the Caribbean. The spa is set along the hillside above one of the resort's long stretches of private beach, featuring nine thatched-roofed Palapa Suites which can be accessed by an open-air elevator rising up from the sea. Two Grand Palapas with glass bottom floors are set over the water and are accessible only by boat. Highly skilled therapists offer a variety of treatments, such as full body and face massage, relieving head or foot massage, entire body scrubs, manicure and pedicure. The spa also offers morning yoga and chi sessions.

The Jim Fazio designed 18-hole championship golf course offers 600m² of challenging hills and seashore with stunning views from all angle.
