The Singita Private Game Reserve is part of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve,
bordering on the western sector of the Krüger National Park. The area is not
fenced off in the direction of Krüger Park so the animals can move freely
between the National Park and Sabi Sand. In the Shangaan language, the word
singita means "wonder". Given the astonishing abundance of wildlife to be
found on this large reserve, the name could not have been better chosen.
Lebombo Lodge & Sweni Lodge
These two brand-new lodges are set spectacularly in the middle of Krüger National
Park. Like eagles' eyries, the 15 Suites of the Lebombo Lodge are perched on a steep
slope, offering breathtaking view across the African bush, the bizarre red stone
towers of the chain of Lebombo hills and down into the N'wanetsi River Valley. The
six Loft Suites at the Sweni Lodge lie in the shade of the trees on the banks of
the Sweni River, just 250 metres from the Lebombo Lodge. Between the two lodges is
the Lebombo Village with its spa, fitness centre, boutique, art gallery and wine
shop.
Even in the lodges themselves you feel close to the nature. The Suites are fitted
with glass walls. They have outdoor showers. While any guest in the mood can sleep
outdoors, protected by mosquito nets, or dine beneath the starry African sky in a
so-called boma. The rooms at both lodges have been beautifully designed and decorated
with a sensitive eye for African style. The look of the Sweni Lodge in particular
focusses on the earthen hues of the natural landscapes.
Rooms/Accommodation:
Guest can relax in Suites that blend natural textiles with glass and steel, local
crafts with hi-tech accessoires. Hand-woven blankets and rugs from local villages
fit perfectly with international designer-brand furniture. The rooms are air-conditioned
and have individually stocked minibars. The luxury treatment that guests can expect
does not end with the rooms, though. Included in the price are not just meals and
soft drinks, but also wines, spirits, Cuban cigars, wildlife tours and a lot more
besides. In fact, the only extras are the champagne and the programme at the spa.
And for guests who want to surf the internet, there is a computer terminal available
at all of the Singita lodges.
Activities:
Experienced rangers and trackers are on hand to escort guests on special
stalking trips. No one knows the land, the habitats and the wildlife of the
Singita Lebombo better than these man do. With their years of experience for
a guide, you will be able to track down even the rarer, shyer animals, such
as the 27 lionesses with their 14 cubs.
