Zanzibar and Pemba lie in the Indian Ocean, roughly 600 kilometres south of
the Equator and around 40 kilometres off the Tanzanian coast. During the last
century, these lush green islands were centres for the spice trade. Nowadays
most of the population makes a living from tropical agriculture and fishing.
The Palm is located on Zanzibar's east coast. The entire coastline is
dominated by white-sanded palm beaches. The airport is approximately an
hour's drive away, while a short trip brings you to the small town of Bwejuu.
